A Tale Of Two Cities - more than a novel by Charles Dickens, it’s also the story of Best Laid Plans, a band that has drawn comparisons to such influential bands like The Gin Blossoms, The Black Crowes, The Jayhawks, & Whiskeytown

In late 2003, Best Laid Plans was founded by high school friends, Scott Eubanks (Vocals, guitar) and Dan Almoney (drums, percussion), two kindred musical spirits, who would not let their “geographic dysfunction” stop them from pursuing their rock & roll dreams.  You see, even though they both graduated from the small town of Manchester, Pennsylvania, life has since separated the two by more than 600 miles with Scott living in South Carolina and Dan continuing to reside in PA.

Working via email and over the phone, Scott & Dan chose four songs that best represented what the band was to become, and in March of 2004 recorded their debut EP, "End Of A Daydream."  Recorded and mixed over three days at Saturation Acres in Danville, PA.  The Studio owned and operated by members of National Recording Artists, The Badlees, seemed a logical choice for the novice duo.

On the strength of the recording and with no previous live experience, Best Laid Plans was accepted to make their debut at the Millennium Music Conference in Harrisburg, PA in late-June of 2004.  However, the group’s full lineup with a lead guitarist and bass player was not complete until less than a month before the group’s very successful debut.  A show that prompted soundman Chile to send them an email saying “out of 3 nights and 14 acts, Best Laid Plans had the best turnout.”

That June night also marked the official release of “End Of A Daydream,” which has since received wonderful reviews.  “An ethereal piece of Americana,” said Big Takeover Magazine.  Pulse Weekly called it a “strong stepping-stone” full of “well-produced alt-pop.”  Keith Gordon, freelance writer/Jersey Beat Reviewer, claims that “Best Laid Plans has accomplished more in a quarter-hour than most bands achieve with a  full CD.”

By the end of 2004 the band was ready to ring in a new year and new opportunities both north & south.

In January 2005, Best Laid Plans debuted as an acoustic duo to a vocal and enthusiastic crowd as part of a Tsunami Benefit show.  This show, held at the illustrious Handlebar in Greenville, SC, was part of the acclaimed Mountain Rocks Series.  With a great performance and great turnout, the band has been asked back several times (as a full band), most recently to open for National Independent Artist Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers.
