THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN------BEST LAID PLANS PLAYS TWO

The holidays are always a time for reunions, coming home and hanging with old pals.

Funny.  That’s exactly what the dudes in Best Laid Plans had in mind for this weekend.  Actually, Northeastern Senior High School graduates Dan Almoney and Scott Eubanks—the band’s drummer and singer, respectively—will be steering Best Laid Plans’ rocking van back into the area for two shows.

Eubanks, who’s down in South Carolina, will likely meet up with old pal Almoney somewhere between his town of Mount Joy and the York area.  The buddies will then bring the rock to town.

At 9 tonight, the band plays at the York YWCA, 320 E. Market St, York, during the town’s First Night York festivities.

A First Night York button is required for admission to the all ages show.  Call 854-1587.

At 10 p.m. Saturday, Best Laid Plans makes it a two night stay with a gig at Gullifty’s, 1104 Carlisle Road, Lower Allen Township.  Admission is $5.  Visit www.parocks.com/gulliftys or call 761-6692.  They headline the show with Blue Corduroy and Never Crash Now also on the bill.

So what kind of, er, plans have Best Laid Plans been hatching?  Almoney, Eubanks, bassist Aaron Gainer and lead ax man Bryan Haag have been promoting the hizzy out of their debut EP, “End Of A Daydream,” a set of songs that cross pollinates a ‘70s rock sound of The Black Crowes with the rootsier shades of The Jayhawks.  The EP was recorded at – where else – Saturation Acres in Danville.

Don’t go looking for some kind of Stones cover band, though.  These guys have a sound all their own, and they’ll be tossing out sweet hooks at these shows like they were Christmas candies.
